Blood pressure monitoring
The 24 hour blood pressure monitor is similar to a normal blood pressure check, although patients wear an inflatable cuff continuously over a 24 hour period to monitor blood pressure at regular intervals. This enables your doctor to observe any changes. You’ll have an inflatable cuff secured around your upper arm, which is then connected to a small monitoring device. The cuff will inflate and deflate at regular intervals during the 24 hour period to measure and record your blood pressure. Your doctor will call you for a further appointment or, if in The Lister Hospital, the results will be discussed with you the same day.
