HCA is the winner of the Laing & Buisson Independent Healthcare Award, Laing’s Healthcare 2012

HCA International Limited, which owns London’s six leading private hospitals, has won the prestigious 2012 Laing & Buisson, ‘Laing’s Healthcare 20’ award – the second major award for the group in four months.

This latest award was given to HCA for exhibiting ‘excellent performance over the past year’ and according to the organisers ‘perhaps most importantly of all, influence in shaping UK healthcare.’

HCA won the award against stiff competition from 45 of the country’s largest private healthcare and service providers.

Michael Neeb, President and Chief Executive Officer of HCA International Limited, received the award from Laing & Buisson Director, William Laing.

Mr Neeb said this most prestigious accolade reflected the group’s pursuit of the highest standards of patient care and the continuing dedication of doctors nurses, specialist medical and support staff in all HCA’s hospitals, clinics and diagnostic and outpatient centres..

“To win this particular award is a great honour and proof that investing long term in our hospitals, the latest diagnostic and treatment technology, staff training and quality management, results in better outcomes for patients and over all standards,” he said.

“Everything we do is focussed on trying to provide the best possible care for every patient and improving and maintaining standards every single day.”

“We are driven by the need to give patients the best and most up to date facilities.   For example, in the past three years alone we have re-invested every pound of our profits in new equipment – over £150 million.”

“Whether it be the latest robotic surgical procedures that help patients recover much, much faster than before or whether it be the latest radiotherapy machines that give patients a better chance of beating cancer, we see the benefits of this investment every single day and so do our patients.”

“Our hospitals are the only private hospitals in the UK that can manage the complete care pathway of patients in all the most challenging areas of medicine including cancer, cardiac care and neurosciences,” he said.

Following the presentation of the award, Imperial College London Professor of Health Policy, Nick Bosanquet, praised HCA’s role in strengthening London’s reputation as a centre for world class complex medicine.

“HCA's very substantial and consistent investment in its hospitals, staff and clinical technologies has been a major influence on strengthening London's global reputation as a medical centre of excellence,” he said.  “HCA offers the very latest treatments and takes great care of its patients. This is a compelling and customer focused combination of skills.’”

Michael Neeb also congratulated Dr Peter Harper & Partners of Leaders in Oncology Care who won the L & B 2012 Entrepreneurial Achievement Award.

This award is given to individuals or organisations that ‘demonstrate both a flair for and commitment to, business enhancement through entrepreneurial activity which results in the growth of a business’.

In May, HCA won the HealthInvestor award, Private Hospital Group of the Year.
