HCA NHS Ventures wins the Laing & Buisson Healthcare Award for Public/Private partnership

HCA International Limited, which owns London’s six leading private hospitals, and has five major joint ventures with renowned NHS teaching hospitals, has won the prestigious Laing & Buisson 2013 award for Public/Private Partnership.

This is the second major award for HCA’s NHS Ventures Division this year, having already won the HealthInvestor Public/Private Partnership category in June.  This time HCA beat three other finalists, including two other independent hospital groups, Ramsay and Spire and also Southampton Hospitals.

Michael Neeb, President and Chief Executive Officer of HCA International, said this second award for NHS Ventures in a year, was recognition of the success of HCA’s pioneering joint venture policy.

“From the beginning we set out to become a true partner with each NHS Trust we work with and so the way we work allows our partners to benefit from significant new funding earned from providing world class care for private patients.  Our joint ventures increase competition; they increase choice for patients and they frequently provide new diagnostic and treatment technology and funds that directly benefit NHS patients and taxpayers,” said Mr Neeb.

“As a result of the success of these ventures, we are currently in discussion with a number of other trusts and we see many other opportunities around the country to provide more support for the NHS,” he said.

Sarah Fisher, the Chief Executive Officer of HCA NHS Ventures, was delighted to win a second major award this year.  “We have some great partnerships with some of the nation’s leading teaching hospitals and our success is a result of the teamwork forged with our partners.”

“We have teamed up with like minded partners committed to providing world class complex care and to creating more choice for patients and faster access to care services, that in many cases didn’t exist before we became involved.”

“We also pay tribute to our clinicians and medical staff who, as committed team members, have created tangible benefits for all parties, especially our patients and our JV partners.”

“On behalf of every member of my team, I am greatly privileged to receive this industry recognition for the work that we are doing,” said Sarah.
